Hello. This is Ochiai, designer.
Today I'd like to give a simple introduction to what Photoshop actually is and what it does.
I think many people have heard the name Photoshop.
As the "photo" in its name suggests, it's software for retouching and editing photos.
・Fine color adjustments
・Creating natural-looking composite photos
・Adding various effects to photos
・Inserting text with a wide range of typographic expression
・Fixing photos that didn't turn out well
・Removing unwanted objects
You can edit freely and in fine detail like this.
There's a lot the software can handle automatically, but
the freedom and detail also mean there are many features, and mastering them requires skill on the user's part.
Photoshop is something like the art materials used in painting.
Since Photoshop is a paint-type tool, many people use it to create illustrations.
Still, its main use is photo editing.
I often use Photoshop to change resolution, correct colors, and crop images.
Also, because it lets you edit with more of a drawing-like feel than Illustrator, I often turn to Photoshop when I want to create detailed expressions.
I think it's an essential piece of software for designs that use a lot of photos and images.
This is a fairly rough overview of Photoshop, but Merci's other designers and I cover many specific examples of what you can do and how in our blogs, so please take a look if you're interested!
