Hello.
This is Tsukamoto from Merci.
In our Merci Monthly newsletter we always talk about color, and today I'd like to talk about color here on the blog as well.
Red
Red is a color that is also known as the "selling color."
Red is used so often in sale advertisements not just because it stands out.
Red has the effect of stimulating people's desire to buy, exciting them and prompting them to take action.
That's why it has the power to help shoppers who are hesitating over a purchase make up their minds more quickly.
Also, because time seems to pass more quickly when you are surrounded by red, red is used in interiors when a shop wants to increase customer turnover.
Red is the most intense and eye-catching color of all.
It is also a color that easily draws the eye and stays in the memory.
For this reason, it is used as a sign of urgency on traffic lights, road signs, fire engines and the like. Emergency stop switches and error lamps are basically red as well.
Red works to stimulate the secretion of adrenaline, raising blood pressure and pulse rate, and has the characteristic of heightening tension and creating excitement.
Red is also an aggressive color, stirring up drive, confidence and fighting spirit.
With such powerful and active effects, red is a color used in many company logos, as well as in sporting goods and leisure products.
On the other hand, it is a color best avoided when calmness, relaxation or caution is called for.
It can also bring about negative effects such as overexcitement, fatigue and anger, so care is needed regarding how much of it is used and in what situations.
Every color effect always has two sides. It would be great to understand those characteristics and use them appropriately!
